Send her ass to Eeby Deeby

I've decided to actually use this account for something and post about my journey of self torment through the month of November. I've spent a lot of this year rediscovering my relationship to music and something I've been wanting to do for a while is to expose myself to as much new music as possible. That day has almost arrived. Starting on November 1st and extending through the end of the month, I am going to be listening to a new album every day. The albums in my lineup were selected by friends and family and my input as to what is put on the list was intentionally kept to a minimum. It's a complete grab bag. My plan is to document each album as I listen to it on this page and provide little snippets on my thoughts. Obviously an hourish of listening every day plus writing time is a lot, so I will be prioritizing actually listening to the album and the post will come secondary. I hope someone enjoys watching me stumble through this next month. Happy Halloween!

How to Be a Human Being

by Glass Animals

I promise I listened to this on time, I just was busy yesterday and didn't write a post. Another band I hadn't heard of before it was submitted. I liked the instrumentals of this album but something about the vocals didn't sit right with me. Not in a particularly unpleasant way but the instrumentals were definitely my favorite part of this album. Again, this is different from what I'm used to, but I thought it was good all in all!

The Jaws of Life

by Pierce the Veil

Pierce the Veil is a band that I've thought for a long time I might like. Considering my formative music experiences were Fall Out Boy and My Chem I shouldn't be surprised I was proven right. This is an intense yet somber album. It sounded familiar to me, but still fresh enough to catch my attention. I was surprised to see that this album was released in 2023, as I didn't realize this band was still making music. All in all, was good, did like. Thanks for the submission Robbie.

The Beautiful Game

by Vulfpeck

Happy November! Kicking off the month with some chill funky beats. I'd only ever heard of this musician in passing before today, so I wasn't sure what to expect. This was a submission from one of my closest friends who has always had adjacent but distinctly different music tastes from me. I'm not sure what to call this genre but it seemed to have influences from funk and jazz. It wan an enjoyable listen, but I think it works better as background noise for me rather than an active listen. I might listen one more time before the end of the day and see if I change my mind on that point. All in all it was a fun, low key listen. Thanks for the submission @joculatrix!
